Description Mytilus edulis foot protein-1 is one of several proteins in the byssal adhesive plaque of the mussel M. edulis. The high content of 3,4-dihydroxyphenylalanine and its localization near the plaque-substrate interface have often prompted speculation that Mefp plays a key role in adhesion.
Application A solution of MEFP-1 for general applications such as formation of surface coatings, attaching particles or polymers to surfaces or adhesive compositions that are insensitive to water. A surface coating of MEFP-1 alters the surface to be highly hydrophilic and allows for attachment of other biological or non-biological components such as proteins, particles or polymers.
Features And Benefits Low toxicity and good biocompatibility
