Description Polyvinylidene fluoride is a highly non-reactive thermoplastic fluoropolymer. It can be synthesized by the polymerization of 1,1-difluoroethylene.
Application Due to its multiple excellent properties such as elasticity, low weight, low thermal conductivity, high chemical resistance, and heat resistance, PVDF is often used to make the insulating sheath of electrical wires.
PVDF is commonly used to produce tactile sensor arrays, inexpensive strain gauges, and lightweight audio transducers due to its piezoelectric properties.
PVDF is also a standard binder for composite electrodes in lithium batteries.
In the biomedical field, PVDF membranes are often used in immunoblotting, on which proteins are electrophoresed.
Features And Benefits PVDF is mainly used in occasions that have extremely high requirements on purity and also need to resist solvent and acid and alkali corrosion. Compared to other fluoropolymers, such as Teflon, PVDF has a lower density.
