Description Polyvinyl chloride is a polymer material obtained by addition polymerization of vinyl chloride. It is the third most widely produced synthetic plastic polymer after polyethylene and polypropylene.
Application Poly(vinyl chloride) can be used as a polymeric matrix that facilitates the formation of membrane electrodes for s such as biological sensors, polymer based electrolytes, and other electrochemical sensors.
Features And Benefits Stable; not easy to be corroded by acid and alkali; heat-resistant than polyethylene but not as good as polypropylene. The biggest feature of PVC is flame retardant, so it is widely used in fire protection applications. But PVC releases hydrogen chloride, chlorine and other toxic gases when heated above 148°C.
