Description Polyvinyl acetate (PVA, PVAc for short) is an elastic synthetic polymer. Polyvinyl acetate is prepared by the polymerization of vinyl acetate (VAM). Partial or complete hydrolysis of polymers is used to prepare polyvinyl alcohol.
Application It is the most commonly used wood glue and is called white glue. White glue is also widely used to bond other materials such as paper and clothing and to bond cigarettes together. Polyvinyl acetate is widely used in print binding and book arts due to its elasticity and less acidity than other polymers. Polyvinyl acetate is also widely recommended for the manufacture of coagulated paper.
Features And Benefits The hydrolysis rate of polyvinyl alcohol products is generally between 87% and 99%. Polyvinyl acetate is sold in the form of an emulsion in water as an adhesive for porous materials, especially wood.
