Description Since PLLA itself is a hard and brittle material, modifications to enhance the softness and elasticity of PLLA could broaden the applicability of biodegradable polymers in biomedical applications. The introduction of soft segments such as poly(ɛ-caprolactone) (PCL) can effectively make PLLA more soft and elastic.
Application Poly(L-lactide-co-caprolactone-co-glycolide) (PLGA-PCL) is a biodegradable block copolymer that may be used as nanoparticle-based drug delivery systems. Electrospun nanofiber blend of PLGA-PCL, phosphorylcholine groups and an antiproliferative (rapamycin)may be used as vascular grafts and prostheses.
