Optical Film Coating Services

INQUIRY

Alfa Chemistry can provide you with optical thin film coating services for UV, visible, and NIR optics. We produce thin film coatings with properties such as anti-reflective, highly reflective, resistant to mechanical damage or high power damage for use on virtually any optical component, and work with the substrate to determine the actual characteristics of the optical component. All of the films' specs are on par with or better than the industry standard. We can also create custom coatings to adjust the optical response for a range of purposes. Optical Thin Film Coating Technologies

Optical coatings are one or more layers of material that are deposited on an optical component and change the way it reflects and transmits light. Alfa Chemistry has a comprehensive range of optical coating technologies and proprietary software for thin-film coating design, allowing us to design and manufacture one-of-a-kind optical coating coatings for our customers to meet their most stringent needs. Our coating technologies include but are not limited to:

  • Electron Beam
  • Hybrid Technologies
  • Magnetron Sputtering
  • Ion Assisted Deposition
  • Resistance Evaporation
  • Physical Vapor Deposition
  • Plasma Ion Assisted Deposition

We have a large back record of optical coating formulas, ranging from optical glass and crystalline materials to bare and nickel-plated metals. MgF, SiO2, and other oxide and fluoride dielectric multilayer coating materials are used in our thin-film coatings. For gold, silver, and aluminum metals, we also offer improved and protected coatings.

Our Optical Film Facilities

We clearly understand the importance of materials, surface roughness, surface finishing, cleaning methods, and environmental conditions. We clean and inspect our optics in Class 1000 cleanrooms and laminar flow hoods with particle counts typically less than 10 of ½ micron or larger. Simultaneously, we apply additional thin optics techniques to create flawless surfaces. Our goal is to ensure that the spectral, mechanical, environmental, and laser damage criteria of our clients' coatings are met by our process coating procedure.

Custom Thin Film Coating Testing

For verifying and testing their design criteria and manufacturing quality, we employ a variety of spectrophotometers to evaluate optical film coatings for spectra spanning from UV to NIR. Coating charts and witness samples are delivered on a regular basis. We also have in-house capabilities to test our optical coatings for a variety of properties including but not limited to: adhesion, humidity, heat resistance, salt spray, and abrasion resistance.
