Processes of Adsorption and Desorption

Absorption is a phenomenon involving the overall characteristics of a solid, liquid or gas. It involves atoms or molecules that pass through the surface and enter the volume of the material. In adsorption, there can be physical and chemical absorption. Desorption is the release of a substance from another substance, whether from the surface or through the surface. When the equilibrium situation changes, desorption occurs.

Absorption and desorption of different materials be it unwanted contamination, particles, biofilms, or others influence many processes on the surface. For example, the success of the cleaning process depends on the interaction between the surface in question and the cleaning agent.

Alfa Chemistry can help you find the answers to these questions by using the quartz crystal microbalance QCM-D to study the absorption process.

Particle Counting

Wear effects and abrasive erosion are usually only visible after long-term use. Using the correct method, the smallest particle traces can be identified earlier. Particles will affect the quality and service life of the coated product.

Particle measurement technology is used to control the cleanliness of products and identify quality defects and excessive wear to avoid costly failures. The PAMAS particle counter measures the solid particle contamination in the liquid and controls the efficiency of the filter and the cleanliness of the liquid.

In the Alfa Chemistry laboratory, we use a special liquid particle counting system to count particles.
